  1. In relation to what we discussed in class today and the question about whether we should be optimistic or pessimistic about the internet, I have been thinking that maybe that depends on how well-educated the audience are. I tend to think that when people are better educated, they have better judgement on certain information, and the risk of rumors/disturbance would decrease. However, that’s not entirely true. I realized that as we pointed out in class, we subscribe to certain ideas or values (pre-biases), and we tend to seek confirmation. Internet allows people who hold the same ideas to cluster and reinforce the value they have. It’s polarization.
At this point, maybe what matters isn’t how much convenience Internet has provided us or how well-educated we are, but how open minded we are, and how diverse our ways of obtaining information are.
Additional thoughts/questions on this are that is personalization really the best for people/society? We get things we want easier, but how much are we being shaped/changed? For better, or for worse?
