Mobile messaging applications from Asia (Japan’s Line and China’s WeChat) are ramping up their marketing efforts to find new users world-wide. The applications combine text and voice messaging with additional features that include photo sharing and status updates. 300 million chinese citizens are registered users. International users doubled from 50 million in may to 100 million. South Africa has been a big contributor in the effort. WeChat and Japan’s Line have competition but they see success in the emerging markets.
