This article deals with a scam involving dating sites in Australia. The consequences have been harmful and have even lead to death. The people who have fallen victim to the scams have, in some cases, left the country to meet their possible partners and sent money. One woman decided to meet the man she met online in another country and was later found dead. Another man was about to leave the country and after police intervention they found that the “woman” he was going to meet was actually a boy who was in a gang.

The police have taken steps to prevent and minimize these problems. They have tried to stop anyone going out of the country if there is any risk that they might be falling for one of these scams. They have also tracked large money transactions and have contacted the victims if the transaction was a scam.
