FCC Chair: ISPs should be able to charge Netflix for Internet fastlane

At first glance it seems that this deal would open up broadband for streaming sites like Netflix or Hulu, which it would. However the way that this would be achieved would be to charge Netflix based on its streaming speed. In other words, Netflix would be charged much more for the speed at which it is currently and pass the price increase onto the consumer. This also would open up more widespread bandwidth restriction, allowing sites that Internet providers don’t like to be choked out.
