Microsoft: US government is an ‘advanced persistent threat’

Violet Blue writes a great article with heavy evidence here.

She finishes this article with a dialectic statement:

“Leaving us all to wonder just what kind of mess we’re in when one of the largest, richest and most visible American companies in the world openly categorizes the US government as an “advanced persistent threat” to both itself, and its customers.”

Is Microsoft ‘poking the wrong bear’ to gain customer trust and maintain lock-in?

or

Will Microsoft stay true to the claim of customer privacy when the US government comes knocking on the door with the Patriot Act in hand?

I hope Violet Blue keeps reporting on this. She is a great reporter (http://www.zdnet.com/meet-the-team/us/violet.blue/)
